MY PET ATE A BAR, IS THAT OK?

Stabilyze Thin Mint Cookie and Coconut Cashew bars contain small amounts of Xylitol which can be harmful to pets. If your pet does accidentally eat a bar, please notify your veterinarian immediately and give them the following information:  The Thin Mint Cookie bar contains 1 gram of Xylitol and the Coconut Cashew bar contains 0.1 grams of Xylitol.

DO YOUR BARS CONTAIN NUTS?

Yes.  Nut butters are one of the sources of protein in each flavor of Stabilyze nutrition bars.  The Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup bar contains peanuts, Dark Chocolate Thin Mint Cookie bar contains almond butter and Dark Chocolate Coconut Cashew bars contain cashew butter.

WHAT TYPE OF PROTEIN IS USED FOR THE BARS?

Stabilyze® bars contain whey protein as a primary protein source.  The whey protein we use is a product of Bovine milk.  The bars contain a combination of three configurations of whey protein: Concentrate, hydrolysate, and isolate.  The bars also contain nut butters (type varies based on flavor) as an additional source of protein.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF WHEY PROTEIN?

Whey protein is the better and preferred protein source between whey and soy protein.  Whey protein contains leucine as a part of all nine essential amino acids required by the body to build, rebuild and maintain muscle mass.  Soy protein is derived from the soy plant and does not contain the majority of the essential amino acids and doesn’t promote muscle growth, rebuild or maintenance.

WHY DOES THE INGREDIENTS SAY IT HAS SOY LECITHIN?

Soy Lecithin is not soy protein.  Soy contains a large fraction of protein that is mostly removed from soy lecithin.  Because soy lecithin is extracted from the processed oil of the soya bean’s shell, it contains none of this protein.  Read more: http://www.livestrong.com/article/503649-soya-vs-soy-lecithin/#ixzz2lgJkPnAT

WHY USE SOY LECITHIN?

Soy lecithin possesses emulsification properties. This means it can keep a bar’s ingredients “together” by making sure that the cocoa and the cocoa butter don’t separate. It is also used in bakery items to keep the dough from sticking, and to improve its ability to rise.

ARE YOUR BARS SUGAR FREE?

Stabilyze bars are not sugar free. There is 4g of natural agave syrup in the bars to sweeten them. If the agave was not present the product would have to compensate with an overload of unwanted chemicals to make it “zero sugar”.

HOW ARE THEY SWEETENED?

Stabilyze bars primary sweetener is agave syrup, a natural plant sugar.  As part of the ingredients of the dark chocolate, they do also have a very small amount of maltitol.  And depending on the specific flavor the bar may contain Xylitol,  purified Stevia extract, or Lo Han Guo.  See the Nutrition Details page for flavor specific information.

BENEFITS OF XYLITOL

Xylitol is smiled upon by your dentist!  Xylitol inhibits the growth of the primary bacteria that causes cavities (Streptococcus mutans).  Xylitol, for this reason, is found in chewing gum and mints that help prevent tooth decay.  Read more information here: Wonders of xylitol

WHAT IS MALTITIOL?

Maltitol is a sugar alcohol (a polyol used as a sugar substitute). It has 90% the sweetness of sucrose (table sugar) and nearly identical properties, except for browning. It is used to replace table sugar because it has fewer calories, does not promote tooth decay and has a somewhat lesser effect on blood glucose.  It is only a sweetener in the chocolate. The bar’s main sweetener is all natural agave syrup.

WHY DO YOU USE SUGAR ALCOHOL AS PART OF YOUR INGREDIENTS RATHER THAN SUGAR SUBSTITUTES?

Stabilyze® nutrition bars are specifically formulated to have a minimal effect on a person’s glycemic index ratios while still tasting great. By using sugar alcohols in place of other forms of sugar (dehydrated cane juice for example), we can help our customers in their efforts to maintain their glycemic level ratios in the range that is most beneficial to them.

We choose not to use artificial sweeteners (such as aspartame) which for some, not only give a poor after taste, have also been known to have side effects including causing some neurological issues in some people.

The sugar alcohols we use are: Xylitol  in the inner core of the bar and Maltitol in the dark chocolate. This enables us to use dark chocolate rather than a compound type chocolate which does not have the same health benefits as dark chocolate.

CAN DIABETICS EAT YOUR STABILYZE BARS?

Innova Nutrition always recommends consulting your physician first before any new diet changes. Our Stabilyze bars are suitable for consumers looking to control their sugar intake.

ARE YOUR BARS GLUTEN FREE?

Yes, the Stabilyze bars are certified gluten free.

WHAT TYPE OF FIBER IS IN YOUR BARS?

Innova Nutrition’s Stabilyze® bars are high in a great source of high quality prebiotic dietary vegetable fiber.  We use a prebiotic fiber in our bars which is beneficial for the well-being of the natural microflora in the lower gut.

WHAT ARE NET CARBS? HOW DO YOU FIGURE THEM OUT ON YOUR NUTRITIONAL FACTS PANEL?

Our nutrition facts panel identifies the breakdown of total carbs including dietary fiber, sugars, and sugar alcohols. The net carbs are calculated by subtracting the non-effective ingredients from the total carbs. Examples of the non-effective ingredients include sugar alcohols and fiber.

WHAT IS MSG?

As defined by Wikipedia: Monosodium glutamate (MSG, also known as sodium glutamate) is the sodium salt of glutamic acid, one of the most abundant naturally-occurring non-essential amino acids. MSG is found in tomatoes, Parmesan, potatoes, mushrooms, and other vegetables and fruits.MSG is used in the food industry as a flavor enhancer with an umami taste that intensifies the meaty, savory flavor of food, as naturally occurring glutamate does in foods such as stews and meat soups. This was first prepared by Japanese biochemist Kikunae Ikeda, who was seeking to isolate and duplicate the savory taste of kombu, an edible seaweed used as a base for many Japanese soups. MSG as a flavor enhancer balances, blends and rounds the perception of other tastes. It is particularly popular in Korean, Japanese and Chinese cuisine.

DOES INNOVA NUTRITION CORP ADD MSG TO STABILYZE® BARS?

No, MSG is not an additive.  However, glutamates are naturally found in all protein sources so therefore there is a small amount of glutamate found as a part of the protein ingredient in all of Innova Nutrition bars.  This naturally occurring amount of glutamate should not cause concern for regular consumption.

IS IT OK TO GIVE STABILYZE BARS TO CHILDREN?

It’s fine for children and is a much better alternative to candy or junk snacks. Stabilyze bars have healthy ingredients, no additives, and 21 essential vitamins and minerals all of which are great for anyone, children included. Please note, however, this product is not recommended for children under 10 years of age because the Maltitol and high fiber amounts might cause loose stools.

IS THIS A DIET/WEIGHT LOSS PRODUCT?

Stabilyze bars are not specifically designed as a weight loss product. However, eating a low-calorie, high nutrient, high fiber, energy bar as a meal replacement or between meal snacks can help with weight loss management. The Stabilyze bar also helps balance blood sugar levels, and when this happens, the body tends not to crave sugar or carbs which can also help in a weight management program.
